Appeals

Although we place a lot of trust in the fairness of the legal system in being able to resolve divorce and other family law issues, the truth is that sometimes judges and others can make decisions that are not truly beneficial to the parties involved. When you believe a mistake has been made in your family law case, you may be able to petition for an appeal of a decision.

The decisions of a family court judge can have an enormous implication on your life, and you should not be afraid of appealing those decisions if it is appropriate. We have more than 25 years of experience with Missouri courts.

Will an appeal be granted for my case?

Appeals are typically granted only if there is evidence that the judge made a decision without supporting evidence or their decision ran afoul of relevant laws. Also, appeals must be filed in a timely manner.

Some of the types of decisions that you can request an appeal for include:

  • Property division
  • Child custody
  • Child support

If you are interested in filing an appeal, it is crucial you find a knowledgeable family appeals attorney to ensure no mistakes are made in the process and to provide diligent advocacy in the courtroom. At Lorri Kline, LLC, our experienced Columbia family lawyer helps Missouri residents with the appeals process.
